GTA 6 rumors — checked

Common GTA VI claims and where they actually stand.

“GTA VI will have over 500 drivable vehicles at launch.”

Speculation

No source. Rockstar has never given a count for any GTA. GTA V launched with ~260. Treat 500+ as a made-up number until Newswire says otherwise.

“GTA VI is coming to PC on day one.”

False / unsupported

Announced platforms are PS5 and Xbox Series X|S only. No PC date exists. History (GTA V, RDR2) points to PC 1–2 years later.

“You can freely switch between Jason and Lucia anytime.”

Confirmed

The Extended Look (Aug 2026) confirmed you can switch “at any time”, and the two leads even text each other in-world. The one open detail is how it behaves when they’re far apart on the map.

“The map is twice the size of GTA V.”

Speculation

A common estimate from trailer geography (city + keys + swamp + panhandle + lake + mountains). Rockstar has published no size.

“GTA VI was delayed again to 2027.”

False / unsupported

As of Aug 2026, Take-Two publicly reaffirmed November 19, 2026 and said there will be no further delay. Pre-orders are live.

“GTA Online (VI) launches the same day as the story mode.”

Rumor

A new online mode is expected and alluded to by Take-Two, but has no confirmed name or window. GTA V’s online launched two weeks after and was rough.

“You’ll need a paid subscription (GTA+) to play GTA VI Online.”

Speculation

Pure speculation extrapolated from GTA+ on GTA V. Rockstar has said nothing about the VI online business model.

“GTA VI is only Vice City — no countryside.”

False / unsupported

The whole state of Leonida is the map. Trailers show the Keys, Grassrivers wetlands, Port Gellhorn, Mount Kalaga and farmland — well beyond the city.

“GTA VI Online will run on real cryptocurrency.”

False / unsupported

No basis whatsoever. Take-Two has repeatedly distanced itself from crypto in games.

“The map from the August 2026 leak is the real, final Leonida map.”

Rumor

An overhead map labelling five counties (Lummox, Kelly, Leonard, Vice-Dale, Mariana) came with the Cyberleek leak. The gameplay clips in the same leak look genuine, which lends it weight, but the map image itself is unverified and could be old, partial, or fabricated. Treat county names as unconfirmed.

“GTA VI has a “focus” meter tied to combat and exploration.”

Confirmed

First seen in the August leak (Jason shooting hoops), then confirmed in the Extended Look: Focus slows time in firefights to let you pick a shot (radiator, tyre, disarm) and highlights points of interest out of combat.

“GTA VI is coming to Nintendo Switch 2.”

Speculation

Two insiders are talking about it and they don’t agree. Nash Weedle claims a port is actively in development through subcontracted specialist studios with the “technical hurdles overcome”. Nick Baker frames it as Nintendo still being early in talks with Rockstar and Take-Two. Rockstar and Nintendo have said nothing; Take-Two has only committed to Switch 2 “when it aligns with strategy”. Any port would be 2027 at the earliest — not at the Nov 19, 2026 launch. GTA V reached every platform eventually, so “someday” is a safe bet; the date and the “already in testing” claim are not.
